Moving beyond the ‘world-class’ institutional model of international student mobility, this paper examines alternative narratives of distinction relating to place of study. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with international students at universities in the UK, Austria and Latvia, we illustrate how students inside and outside mainstream reputable higher education institutions narrate and reconfigure markers of distinction to validate their international mobility and location of study, in part to compete with peers at other (more prestigious) institutions. This paper discusses international student mobility (ISM) in Southern-Latin Europe, specifically Italy, Portugal, and Spain, analysing the inflow of international students as reflected in the UNESCO, OECD and European Commission databases. Only recently Italy, Portugal and Spain, as latecomers, have become more actively involved in ISM dynamics. This trend has been a response to EU pressures to internationalization, instrumented through the consolidation of the Bologna process and the need to build a common space of higher education. New entrants to university : the determinants of regional mobility. This paper aims at understanding the regional mobility of new entrants to university. The regional mobility appears to be marginal. But, the impact of social and academic characteristics shows that self selection processes exist. The combined effects of field and regional impacts highlight the role of the availability of university curricula on student choice.
The routes of Southern Italy university students: an explorative analysis

The neoclassical migration approach postulates that different conditions in labour markets among territories are the driving forces behind migration. On the other hand, exponents of the new economics of migration argue that the decision to move is not made at the individual level. Considering migration as the result of a decision taken within a social network helps to explain the so-called chain migration. In this paper, we pay attention to the migratory chain of university students. This work introduces a statistical technique to “classify” migratory chains of students living in Sicily, Sardinia or Apulia, and enrolled in some centre-north regions from 2008 to 2017.

Erasmus mācību mobilitātes dalībniekiem ir piedāvāta iespēja pavadīt vienu vai divus semestrus studēt augstākās izglītības iestādē citā Eiropas valstī. Ierodoties šajā valstī, studentiem var rasties kultūršoks. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt kultūršoka jēdzienu un iegūt datus par visvairāk traucējošākajiem iemesliem, kas to izraisa, kā arī atrast veidus, kā to risināt. Šim nolūkam autore analizēja teorijas par kultūršoku, adaptāciju un atgriešanās kultūršoku, kā arī izstrādāja un veica starptautisku aptauju.
